Hiking Snacks: A Complete Guide + My Favourites

No, I Don’t Want to Climb Everest

Hi, I'm Emily, a freelance adventure travel writer, editor and SEO specialist. I'm also a practising Mountain Leader working on Ten Tors, DofE and expeditions. I've been in Mountain Rescue since 2015, when I was 23. Pacing into the fog across a featureless bog at midnight is my happy place.
I write books and adventure guides to demystify, encourage and entertain. You've landed on my down-to-earth blog, with over 200 posts to read. My adventures have taken me from Scotland to Slovenia, South Africa to Switzerland - and that’s just the letter S! In 2020, I set a Guinness World Record on a solo and unsupported expedition. Expect all things mountains, cycle touring and sleeping on the floor.
Be Yourself - Know Yourself - Challenge Expectations
See that picture? That's me, in a bivvy bag at 2000m above sea level, writing up a commission. Whether it's a solo 200km walk, a 3 week cycle tour or 48 hours of non-stop adrenaline... wherever I am, whatever I'm doing - I'll be writing about it.
Storytelling is my first love and features writing is certainly the most glamorous part of being an adventure travel writer. (Although the reality can be cold, damp and hungry.) I also write adventure explainers, guides and kit reviews. My bylines include magazines such as MPora, Trail, TGO, Red Bull and newspapers like The Independent and The Telegraph. I am the sub-editor of Sidetracked Magazine and editor of Intrepid Magazine.
With 6 years in marketing and organic traffic before going freelance, I'm as comfortable running SEO technical site audits as writing or optimising on-page. I've done keyword research, CRO and organic traffic sales funnel analysis for clients big and small.
