Via ferrata is right up there with my favourite ways to travel in the mountains. I got my first taste of via ferrata in the Dolomites and have since completed routes across Europe. For me, it’s the perfect middle ground between walking and rock climbing. All of the fun and none of the faff.
I’ve written fairly extensively about via ferrata for other publications. One of my first ever freelance pieces was a Beginners’ Guide to Via Ferrata for Red Bull. It’s a bit cringey for me reading it now, but we all start somewhere! And it still ranks very highly on search engines.
I’ve written a What is Via Ferrata? explainer for Much Better Adventures, plus a list of 6 Awesome Via Ferrata in Europe. I’ve done a guide to Via Ferrata in the UK for MPora and another for Europe (don’t worry, they’re different routes – so many good via ferrata out there!). Oh, and an Everything you Need to Know about Via Ferrata too…
Are you getting the impression that this might be a specialist subject of mine? Here’s everything I’ve written on the blog about it too.
